Broken website after Blocksy update 2.0

Just updated to Blocksy 2.0 and facing some hiccups? Don't worry! In this blog, I walk you through a simple 4-step guide to resolve any issues after updating to Blocksy 2.0

Hey everyone!

Big news! Black Friday brought us a whopper of an update for the Blocksy theme – hello, Version 2.0! 🚀 Packed with so many new features, it’s like the Swiss Army knife of themes, but with more oomph.

But let’s be real – big updates can sometimes be like that one relative at family gatherings who stirs things up. No blame, just life! So, if things got a bit wobbly, here’s a quick 4-step fix. But first, let’s dish out the juicy details:

Performance: This update is like a superhero upgrade for your website. I’m talking speed boosts, ninja-like JavaScript and CSS that only show up when needed, and PHP code that’s as organised as a Marie Kondo-inspired closet. Plus, spring cleaning in the Customizer means your database is going to be squeaky clean and efficient.

Dynamic Data & Advanced Posts: Remember the Blocksy posts shortcode? The team just gave it a turbo boost with the new “Advanced Posts” Gutenberg block. And there’s the “Dynamic Data” block to add some pizzazz to your posts. Check out their “Daily News” starter site for a sneak peek!

WooCommerce Wonders: E-commerce just got a major glow-up with features like variation swatches, filters, compare products, and more. It’s like having a personal shopper for your website.

Dark Mode & Color Galore: The color system had a makeover, giving you more control than ever. Dark mode is in, and it’s looking fabulous.

And so much more… Seriously, just take it for a spin and prepare to be wowed.

Rescue Steps After the Blocksy Update:

Step 1

Update Blocksy Theme and Companion Plugin: Head to your dashboard, find the updates section, and make sure both Blocksy theme and its companion plugin are up to date.

Step 2

Re-save Permalinks: Navigate to WP Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks. Don’t change any settings, simply click ‘Save’. This little refresh can work wonders.

Step 3

Republish Customiser Settings: Go to the Customiser, make a small change, then revert it back to how it was. This is just to activate the ‘Publish’ button. Click ‘Publish’ to update settings.

Step 4

Clear All Caches: This includes plugin, CDN, object, hosting, and browser caches. It’s like giving your website a fresh start.

If these steps don’t do the trick, Blocksy support and Blocksy Facebook group are ready to help.

Now, I’m eager to hear your thoughts on the new features. Which one wins the crown in your book? Happy updating, and may your website run smoother than ever! 🌟🖥️🔧
